Christ Episcopal Church
20 West First St.
Dayton, OH 45402

Where we are

Christ Church is located on the southeast corner of First Street and Ludlow Street in downtown Dayton. First Street is one way going east. Ludlow is one way going south.

From I-75 North or South, go to the First Street Exit, and drive east on First Street. We are the third church you'll see on First Street. We are between Ludlow and Main Street.

Where to Park

Sunday morning parking is free in most of the adjacent parking lots until at least 1:00 p.m. Street parking is also free on weeknights and weekends. If you are coming to an evening or weekend activity at Christ Church when "event parking" is in effect, tell the attendant that you are going to the Church and you will not be charged.

New Parking Procedures as of May, 2009

New parking lot procedures have been put into place in the lot on the west side of Christ Church (corner of First and Ludlow). PMI, the company that operates the lot, has inaugurated a “Pay and Display” program. Parkers are asked to pay in advance based upon the amount of time their cars will be in the lot. Payment is made in a machine that accepts quarters, $1 coins, and $1 and $5 bills. Upon payment, a parking pass is dispensed which is then to be displayed on the car’s dashboard. (Except for special event parking, there will be no attendant in the lot.)

People attending services and other official church business do not need to pay! On Sunday morning and during other regularly scheduled or special worship services, PMI will not issue citations for cars without tickets on display. At other times people who are on church business should come to the church office and pick up a “pass” that will need to be displayed on the dashboard of their car.  In the event that anyone should inadvertently be issued a citation, please bring it to the church office or call us with the citation number, and we will have it revoked.

Staff and regular church volunteers will eventually be assigned specific parking spaces. Choir members are being issued special rearview mirror passes for choir rehearsal times.

Citations that are issued are in the form of an envelope that says it is to be returned to PMI within 14 days with payment of a $50 fee. Failure to pay will result in the violator being turned over to a collection agency. IF YOU RECEIVE SUCH A CITATION WHILE ON CHURCH BUSINESS, DO NOT PAY. Just follow the procedure outlined above.

This is quite a change from the procedures we have used over the past few years, but PMI has their own business reasons for these changes. Continuing conversations with PMI are ongoing, and the situation is still somewhat fluid. We will keep you up-to-date on any further developments.
